- Patent map using person dictionary
We can create a patent map using the person dictionary which was created in "Create and edit person dictionary".
Now we will introduce how to create a patent map of a population extracted by United States Patent Granted abstract includes "database".

Show candidate
Now we want to use the person dictionary created by "Create and edit person dictionary", create a patent map which x-axis is an assignee. Of course we can input the query "[c]Microsoft" using key board in the x-axis column manually. But it will cause a mistake of assignee name. So now we show and select the assignee from candidate of this population.
Click "AUTOFILL" button. The top 30 assignees of this population and "[c]Microsoft" which was registered in the "Create and edit person dictionary" will be shown. Patent Integration search and show the registered label "[c]xxx" which includes the top 30 assignees (*Note A registered label "[c]xxx" not includes top 30 assignee will not be shown).

A yellow dot is shown on the right of the "Microsoft Corporation". This means the assignee named "Microsoft Corporation" is included in the person dictionary. And you can confirm the label of the person dictionary of this assignee by roll over the mouse cursor on the yellow dot. This prevents the double counting of the same record (*"[c]Microsoft" includes "Microsoft Corporation.").

Edit person dictionary
We can edit person dictionary in the patent map wizard. So we can add any names to the person dictionary easily unless open person dictionary window.
For example, now we want to compare the number of patents of Oracle the famous database company to "[c]Microsoft (it includes "Microsoft Corporation", "Microsoft Corp" and "Microsoft")". But there are two assignees names "Oracle International Corporation" and "Oracle Corporation" which may be related to the Oracle. So we want to gather these two companies name to a label. But we do not want to open person dictionary window.

To create a new person dictionary, please drag and drop the record "Oracle International Corporation" (or " Oracle Corporation ") to the Register Person Dictionary button.

Then small person dictionary window will be popup.

You can choose any person dictionary by combobox to add this assignee name "Oracle International Corporation". But now we only have the dictionary "[c]Microsoft", so click "REGISTER" to create a new person dictionary called "[c]Oracle".

Input "Oracle" and hit a enter key or click a Register button.

Then a new person dictionary "[c]Oracle" has been registered. And the yellow dot is placed on the right of the "Oracle International Corporation".

Add assignee name from candidate
Now we want to add the assignee name "Oracle Corporation" to the new dictionary "[c]Oracle" (includes only " Oracle International Corporation ").

Then you can add the "Oracle Corporation" to the dictionary "[c]Oracle" by drag and drop the assignee "Oracle Corporation" to the right lower dictionary labeled "[c]Oracle".

If you want to open Person Dictionary Function, click the right lower button.

Create a patent map
Now we create a patent map of this population. We choose IBM, Hitachi, AT&T, Lucent from candidate. And we choose [c]Microsoft and [c]Oracle from person dictionary.

Click "PLOT" button.

Then a patent map is created (the label [c]Microsoft and [c]Oracle are expanded to the registered names).

Of course you can check documents included in the each plotted points.
